Water sensitive design was the main focus for the overall site planning of the new headquarters for North East Water (NEW). The 5 green star rated building inspired the landscape plan. The front of the building demonstrates the use of dry detention and bio retention zones which allow for pollution management and reuse of stormwater for irrigation. Excitingly this project includes a place to plug in your electric car (and guitar) and a first for us is the use of a permeable carpark to reduce runoff. Inside the building is a central atrium containing exotic planting and decks that float over the vegetation. An inside outside Zen garden and endemic plantings to the outer landscape complete the site.
