Designed 2012 I Construction 2014-2015
After almost a year of hard work by the team from Aspect Irrigation & Landscaping the Murrumbidgee Riverside Stage 1 works are almost complete with the project still on track to be finished by the end of June.
Revegetation works kicked off the project with over 20,000 plants being planted along the riparian areas. A wet autumn last year gave the plants a great start and with a little help from temporary irrigation over the dryer 2014-15 summer the planting rate has been very successful.
The existing playground now has an exciting natural play space where children can test out their balance on oversized rocks, ride their bikes around the track and over bridges; and create sounds on the timber musical pieces. The youth area is still under construction but we can look forward to a full size basketball court and extra seating.
The new BBQ shelters were completed just in time for the sunny weather last year and have been a popular entertaining spot for locals and visitors as they overlook the Murrumbidgee. With extra seating along the beachfront and walking track there are plenty of places to sit, relax and appreciate the great river.
The walking track from ‘The Beach’ right around to ‘The Rocks’ has been upgraded, now winding through native planting and creating a link between the two historic sites. ‘The Rocks’ area now offers seating, grassed spaces and a beautiful rock wall with an artistic centre piece to reflect the beautiful Eucalyptus camaldulensis. Art work in this area is due to go in at the end of May.
Once again, thank you to the team from Aspect who have put in a huge amount of effort to give a new look to one of Wagga's best tourist destinations.
